Interested in a Puppy?

Thank you for expressing interest in our puppies and thank you for your patience! Please read this outline of our process in finding the best possible homes for our puppies. Steps of how to apply are included at the bottom.

When inquiring about purchasing a puppy, you will be prompted to answer a questionnaire with important questions to determine the best fit for puppy and family. We review all applications in the order they are received and then schedule phone interviews with those qualified. If selected to become a new puppy parent, you will be asked to sign an agreement.

Some of the general terms are outlined below. Please read and be familiar with these prior to submitting your application. We can ship puppies upon request. Additional travel fees will be applied.

We follow certain practices because they work for the benefit of all concerned. These practices have been developed out of our experience working with Drahthaars.

1. When we receive the questionnaire back from you, we will call you for a phone interview. We may have additional questions, and we will answer your questions at that time to the best of our knowledge. By the end of our phone conversation, you will know whether we think that our puppy is a good match for you.

2. Once a female is bred and shows signs of pregnancy we will ask for a deposit. The deposit is half of the total puppy purchase price and becomes a partial payment towards the final price. If we are not able to provide you with the sex of pup you wanted we will return your deposit or hold it for the next litter if that’s what you choose. You may also get on our future puppy wait list for a $500 non-refundable deposit.

We have lived and worked with the puppies since their birth, know them well and are in the best position to choose the right puppy for you. This is why we ask prospective buyers to describe as clearly as they can what they are looking for in a dog. We always take into consideration the type of home and environment our puppies will be placed in to find the best fit for you and them.

When you buy a puppy from us, we will give you as much support in raising and training it as we can, but we also expect you to do your share of work for the development of the dog. Deutsch Drahtaars are active and smart dogs that require, good nutrition, consistant training, hunting, exercise, discipline, and attention and love. If you do not have time or a strong commitment, please reconsider your decision of getting a puppy.

All our puppies will have its ZB number tattooed in its right ear before leaving our property. This number is also found on your Ahnentafel (pedigree), and is unique to your dog. Your dog will also come with a microchip implanted. It is from the VDD in Germany and has your dog’s ZB number associated with it; you are able to link this microchip with your local vet of choice.
